As of the 1rst January 2011 all the traders implicated in customs transactions and international logistics will be compelled to provide EU Customs Authorities security data through electronic declarations for all the import and export transactions. The electronic declarations will be provided before the goods are imported or exported to allow EU Authorities to perform a better risk-analysis and ensure more targeted controls. The system was already in place, on a voluntary basis, since 1rst July 2009 but will not become mandatory.
