Production
- In the first quarter of 2009 the tailoring industry in Bulgaria reported a decrease of 21.4% in sales turnover from goods and products and provided services as compared to the same period of 2008.
- The volume of production during the first 3 months of 2009 decreased by 26.3%.
Foreign Trade
- The foreign trade of Bulgaria in tailoring, textile and knitted products in the first quarter of 2009 was worth EUR 473.2 mln, which compared to 2008 is EUR 118.9 mln or 20.1% less.
- The export decreased by 25.4%.
- Decrease of the import during the period was 19.9% over the previous year.
Domestic Market Sales
- The main part of the production of tailoring industry continued to be toll manufacture. Only 1.5 percent of the output is sold on the domestic market
Producers' sales on the domestic market compared to the first quarter of 2008 are less by 25%. Only clothing for men and boys increased 2.5 times.
